Either inside your home, or a climate controlled storage unit.

I'd probably put them in the sun 1st. The attic in my house is super hot in the summer (probably in the 150 range). I stash all my stuff in my closet or the garage.

No, I've got 3 large vents on the gable ends and about a dozen at the peaks. I think I need to install fans to get some air movement up there. But it does get hot here (120F this summer) and I've got a black ashpalt shingle roof.

 

As a killer squirrel better be sure there are no mice there over winter.

 

Heat is bad for them thats for sure, but UVs are worse. Do you have a basement or crawl space? Just make sure no critters can get into them. I do the same thing, I have a mint black interior or 2 bagged air tight and stashed in my shops rafters. You have to take much care that none of the deformable pieces are lying in such a way that something is putting pressure on one spot of them or you can get a permanent imprint. I put boards down for all those kinds of pieces so the rafters themselves don't leave imprints.

Its very rare in Texas to have a basement. Dunno why, just not popular here. Crawl spaces generally only on homes built before 1960 here. Mostly slab concrete since 60. Self-storage places like Public Storage tho are on every streetcorner.
