I would have to say the suspension swap is not worth it! so don't do it!!
The V12 swap is just plain silly! so don't do it !!
Body modifications! what's wrong with the way it is?
All of the above = no value for money > meh, whatever.

Sorry guys, just kidding.

I expect the wishbone IRS over the stock one will not provide a worth while performance benefit but is a big strength upgrade in driveline (& is sexy).
And nothing bolts in, there is more work in the towers than the subframe.

As for the V12, much better 6 & 8 cylinder alternatives as far as power and cost effectiveness goes.
This is unique and it is Toyota + Toyota (well er, except for the box)

The pic shows rear fully compressed.
Something else to chew on is the handbrake, console and gearshift has moved 4.5" to the rear, with a shortshift virtical stick.

The round gas door avoids the cut out on the flare (which I don't like), the flares are larger and mounted higher = bigger cutout and I like the round.

The subframe rear bolts are out about an 1", redrill, mmm....sounds easy.
Front of subframe has 4 mounts,
2 to be repositioned to align with body's original bolt holes,
2 new mount points in body to align with the 2 remaining subframe bolt holes.
When you get this far you are 30% there (and wondering, do I need this?)

There is a weight difference, but I think the added weight to the rear is not such a bad thing.
This pic shows both assemblies, however like a lot of pics the perspective makes close items look huge.
You can see there is so many more parts than the original set up.
BTW this is out of a MZ21 but AFAIK is identical to MA70.

I actually think the rear end swap is worth it for your car. The low-RPM torque of the 1GZ is really quite amazing, and I don't think a MkII rear end could deal with it. A double-wishbone setup will do a much better job of getting the power down without torching the tyres every time you touch the throttle.

FYI my Century weighs bang on 2 tonnes and will light up the tyres from standstill without stalling up the transmission, just stomping on the throttle. Now imagine it with a manual transmission, shitty trailing-arm suspension, and minus 700kg. Wheelspin city!

Norbie, do you think 3.73:1 final drive should go taller? I can get 3.5:1.
Like, to give it more to bite on.
6th gear is astronomical, I think it's 0.5:1.
1st gear, I will have find out what ratio it is.

Your gearbox is basically a 5-speed with an extra stupidly-overdriven gear, so I don't think you want a very tall final drive ratio. I switched to a 3.58:1 because the V160 is a close-ratio box with a very short first gear, but I don't think yours will be as short. Try it how it is then decide if you want to change it.

OK Norbie, I found them, T56 on left, Getrag V160 on right

1st--2.66:1.......3.83:1
2d---1.78:1.......2.36:1
3d---1.30:1.......1.68:1
4th--1.00:1.......1.31:1
5th--0.74:1.......1.00:1
6th--0.50:1.......0.79:1

I seem to recall these T56 had a tall 1st and the ratio spread is not so wide?
And the GMH car runs a 3.73:1 axle but larger rolling dia tyres than MA61.

I'm estimating a 62mph (100km/hr) to be 1700-1800rpm
(your online gearing calc is not restored is it?)

My new goal in life is to become an Illegal Immigrant in Australia. You guys do what we can only dream......Funny, I was just talkin to Junkie about the C.O.P. setup I am running now, and mentioned that my car thinks its a wasted spark v-12 now. How is the exhaust plumbed? New steering box? NO FIREWALL MODS? Fawkin excellent:faint:

The firewall is ok unless there is a need to push the engine back further, just not much room left for rad fans.

The steering will remain stock, just need to work headers around it and the 60deg V helps.

The stock exhaust is pretty good but would need altering around the steering anyway, so I have something special in mind, but we will see after the engine and box is in the final position.

Norbie, I might be doing this maths wrong, if I multiply the T56 ratios by 1.44 which will adjust them all so that both boxes have identical 1st gear, the other gears are comparable, no surprise 6th is still way tall.

This correction would be done via diff ratios, T56 left and V160 on the right.

1st--3.83:1.......3.83:1
2d---2.56:1.......2.36:1
3d---1.87:1.......1.68:1
4th--1.44:1.......1.31:1
5th--1.06:1.......1.00:1
6th--0.72:1.......0.79:1

Wow I'm glad you found one of these babies! So you decided against the 2GZ-FE (5.2L) lol well I'm sure you didn't want to go all the way to Russia for that one.. haha

I looked for a 1GZ or 2GZ for nearly a year and a half before finding a 2GayZeee... lol

I hope you get this thing running maybe you can get some parts from Top Secret. They built a 1GZ-FE twin turbo, and they ran into a lot of the little problems you've got as well. They relocated the Rad to the hatch with a very nicely engineered air flow system. But as you know there is more than one way to skin a cat. ;)

Good Luck!

Quoted power is 280hp, actual power is a good deal more than that. :) My Century put down 260rwhp bone stock, and that's through a power-sapping auto. I reckon they have well over 300hp out of the box, and you'd free up lots more power with a better flowing exhaust (stocker has 4 cats and 7 mufflers) and a manual transmission.

wow... this is what happens when you sell your supra and dont come back on here for a while....

the torque would be amazing... not to mention the exhaust note!

from your description norbie, I think it needs a pair of good 'ole american flowmasters.
